CAMHS (CHILD & Adolescent Mental Health Service)

A multi-disciplinary team made up of clinical psychologists, child psychiatrist and care managers who see children and young people up to and inclusive of 18 years of age. Provides specialist assessment and treatment services for children and youth with moderate to severe mental health needs, eg; attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, depression, anxiety, eating disorders etc.

After hours cover is provided by GPs and A & E who can access CAMHS as required or (in a crisis only).

In a crisis situation you can call the hospital after hours 03 520 9999 and ask to speak to the person ‘on-call’ for CAMHS. Emergency services (Police and A & E) may also access CAMHS for children and young people in their care. All professionals wishing to refer a family/young person to CAMHS must complete the CAMHS referral form.

C.A.R.E. Marlborough (Consumers Assisting Recovery Everyday)

This is a support centre which has been developed to address the need for an informal, comfortable and warm environment that provides opportunities for recreation, socialisation and a meeting place to share common experiences.
It also provides peer advocacy, in addition to social and educational activities.
Hours: 9:00am - 3:00pm 7 days per week
Family day: Saturdays 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

SF Marlborough (Supporting Families)

This service is FREE and confidential. It’s a community-based service that provides support, education, information and advocacy to family and whanau of mental health service users.

Field workers provide one to one or peer support, lessening the isolation that is felt when mental illness/addiction is a part of a family’s life. They inform families of their rights and assists them when accessing Mental health and community services.
n.b. Family is not restricted to blood ties, it includes anyone you may care about.
Office hours are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday.

4 Scott Street (upstairs) Blenheim

Witherlea House

Provides ongoing assessment and treatment for people suffering from major mental illnesses. Provides short-term contact for assessment and treatment for people with acute mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and eating disorders. Referrals come from a number of sources but the preferred system is via GP.

This is an adult mental health service for clients over 18. Witherlea house also operates a 24-hour crisis service available through contacting the Wairau Hospital.
